Signalmux Sign Language Interpreting for Zoom

Signalmux brings a live sign language interpreter into a Zoom meeting you are already in. You stay inside your meeting while the interpreter joins in a separate window that opens automatically.

Adding the app

There is nothing to install. Signalmux does not need to be added to your Zoom account, and you do not need a Zoom account of your own to request an interpreter. Your organisation needs an active Signalmux service agreement, and that is all.

Using it

  1. Stay in your Zoom meeting.
  2. Open your Signalmux portal link in a browser.
  3. Under “Already in a Zoom meeting?”, paste your meeting link and the passcode from your Zoom invite. The passcode is the short code, for example 5tkMpA — not the meeting number.
  4. Tell us whether you can admit people from the waiting room, then request an interpreter.
  5. We find a qualified interpreter and show you the name they will join under: Signalmux Interpreter.
  6. If your meeting has a waiting room, admit them. They interpret for the rest of the session and leave when it ends.

Removing the app

Because nothing is installed, there is nothing to uninstall. To stop Signalmux joining meetings, stop requesting interpreters. A Zoom account administrator can also block the app for their account at any time from the Zoom App Marketplace, under Manage then Added Apps. To end an interpreting session already in progress, either host can remove the interpreter from the meeting like any other participant.

Privacy

Signalmux does not record, transcribe, stream or store your meeting’s audio, video or chat. We keep only the meeting number and passcode you give us, for as long as the call record lives, so that an interpreter can join.
